Tropical Sands is a collection of four self-contained bungalows in a secluded oceanfront setting and offering good value for money. The bungalows are located on the East side of Rarotonga, 15 minutes drive to Avarua township (Banks, Post Office, Supermarkets, Theatre, Restaurants, Island Nights & Local Market etc) and just a 4 minute drive to Muri Beach, close enough to enjoy at your leisure but far enough away to ensure peace and quiet when needed. The closest village shop (groceries / petrol) is a 3 minute walk.

Room Information - Our Review

Each of the three garden bungalows are free standing and set in a line close together but shielded by landscaped gardens. The interior of the garden bungalows is quite similar but the 2-bedroom has a second bedroom attached to it. Interiors have with inviting Polynesian décor and Queen size bed. There is a separate bathroom, toilet, shower and a fully self-contained kitchen. Bath towels are provided, and beds are made with fresh crisp white sheets. All garden bungalows have a balcony with outdoor furniture for dining overlooking the mountains.

The beach bungalow has an A-frame mezzanine room upstairs with two single beds and an open plan bedroom with double bed and an off-kitchen and bathroom downstairs.

The Beach & Lagoon

There is a narrow stretch of white sand ideal for sunbathing but the lagoon here is too shallow and rocky for swimming or snorkelling. At high tide there is a small sandy bottom area to submerge in.
