Castaway Beach Villas is set on a picturesque beachfront on the west coast of Rarotonga. Complete with “Drift In Drift Out” Beach Bar and a large, cool shady sundeck over the sand, it’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy the cool breeze, a cocktail and the magnificent sunset views. Run by extremely welcoming and friendly owners, the feel here is very laid-back and relaxed. Castaway offers 10 bright, compact and well-appointed units on a small narrow site abundant with tropical vegetation. There are also 2 two-bedroom suites that are massively spacious, light airy and modern, with full facilities and are fantastic value for money.
All units are well-appointed, bright and attractive with wood-paneling and tiled floors throughout. All contain ceiling fans, TV and DVD player, telephone, iron, ironing board and hairdryer. All are serviced daily except Sundays and Public Holidays, and air-conditioning is available in the Poolside units and Suites for an extra daily fee.
4 x Standard Pool Units - All Self Catering The 6 Poolside Units sleep a maximum of 3 people in a neat and pleasant open-plan space with good facilities. They are fully self-contained with fridge / freezer, electric 2-ring cook top, microwave, kettle, and complimentary tea and coffee. The living area has a sofa-bed and opens onto the small private patio with seating, which leads out to the pool area, but is shaded from view by tall tropical plants. Inside, the living area is separated from the sleeping area by a waist-high wall and curtains. The sleeping area comfortably fits the split-king bed and wardrobe space. Behind is a separate shower room.
2 x Superior 2 Bed Pool Suites - All Self Catering Above the Poolside Units are 2 huge Two-Bedroom Suites, sleeping a maximum of 5 people each. These both have long balconies with sea views that overlook the pool area. Each has a large, bright open-plan kitchen and living area with sofa-bed. The fully-equipped modern kitchen comes complete with dishwasher. The master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with spa bath, and the second bedroom has twin beds or split-king bed. There is also a second tiled shower room with large shower. These large Suites offer incredible value for money.
4 x Beach Duplex Bungalows - All Self Catering The 4 compact, thatched-roof Beachfront Units are dual-access and sleep 3 people in each, with a rear balcony that leads down directly onto the sandy beach and bar area. Open-plan in layout, they each contain a double and a single bed and comfy seating. A breakfast bar separates the fully-equipped kitchen that includes a full oven and hob. There is a bright, separate wood-paneled shower room.
Included in the price of the room is a buffet breakfast, and on-site is the poolside "Crusoe's Restaurant" (open 3 times a week) with satellite TV. Crusoe's menu is simple, with an average price of NZ$23. Castaway puts on a Beach BBQ on Wednesdays, and also traditional Sunday roast dinner. Rarotonga is also an excellent place to dine out and Castaway is very convenient for shops and restaurants.
Castaway Beach Villas have great on-site amenities, including pool with large sun deck, sun beds and umbrellas, plus a separate large deck area over the beach. This shaded and breezy deck is furnished with comfortable sofa and table and chairs, and is a great spot for sunset dining. Below this deck is the beach area with sun loungers and umbrellas, coconut trees and hammocks, picnic tables, and the "Drift In Drift Out" Beach Bar. This area opens out onto the beach proper; a wonderful expanse of soft pale sand and coral-strewn seabed abound with fish that offers fabulous snorkeling.
Complimentary kayaks, snorkels and fins are provided although the lagoon is quite shallow at low tide and too rocky for swimming except in the outer lagoon. There is also a day-use room and tour desk for guest convenience, and even seasonal whale-watching. Castaway is just a 15-minute drive from Avarua Town.
