Aitutaki accommodation is developping slowly and there are now over 15 places to stay on the main island and one retreat on the small motu islands surrounding the lagoon. Aitutaki is a 45 minute flight north of Rarotonga and there are four to six flihts daily with a re4duced service on Sunday. The main island offers a couple of luxurious boutique resorts and several quaint budget beach bungalows and backpacker lodges with most accommodations along the north east coast or on the southern spit, where day cruises to the lagoon depart from. It is on these uninhabited islands surrounding Aitutaki Lagoon that you'll find some of the best beaches and swimming lagoons in the South Pacific.
